The tragedy that has been occurring in the state of Rio Grande do Sul has become a recurring topic in all national newspapers, and with that, a question has arisen among the Brazilian population: “What will happen to RS when the water dries up?”.

The Brazilian federal government has been taking measures to help alleviate the 8.4 billion in losses. It is worth remembering that 447 cities in the state were affected. This Monday, 13/05/24, the government suspended the debt that RS owes to the UNIÃO for 3 years; 11 billion was released for a fund that aims to rebuild the state; another 12 billion in interest on the total debt stock of RS will be forgiven and forgotten; everything was presented in a bill sent to the national congress by the current president, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva. 📝
The president continued his trip towards Rio Grande do Sul on May 15, which was the third time he has visited the state since the beginning of the climate fluctuations there. It is worth mentioning that such concern exists also because Rio Grande do Sul represents 6% of Brazilian GDP, and with the state in collapse, this GDP will be reduced considerably.
On Monday, May 13, the president met with representatives of the three powers, at Palácio do Planalto. The meeting was held with the aim of bringing together information and contexts to publicize the measures that were taken to rebuild the state.
An economic recovery plan was created; there have already been three announcements, one of them with an estimated value of more than $50 billion, which aims to anticipate the payment of social programs such as Bolsa Familia, for example. There's a lot going on, but the important thing is to focus on positive thoughts and good news. 🫂
